AUTO RACING: Start your engines!

It's the 103rd running of the country's biggest race - the Indianapolis 500 - at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Simon Pagenaud is the pole sitter at the Brickyard while the big news is that McLaren and two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso failed to qualify. Keep an eye on St. Petersburg resident Sebastien Bourdais. The IndyCar coverage begins at 11 a.m. Sunday on NBC for the 12:29 p.m. race.

RUNNING

Spring Lake Memorial Classic: The Arc Nature Coast hosts this annual race that includes a 10K starting at 7:15 a.m., a 5K starting at 7:45 and a 2-mile fun walk-run starting at 8. All three courses, with chip timing, take participants along shaded tree-draped roads and over challenging hills and vistas. There will be a postrace food festival, and prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers in each age group. The event benefits the Arc Nature Coast, a nonprofit charitable organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Hernando and Pasco counties.
