Port Richey woman accused of throwing hammers at boyfriend’s head, deputies say

PORT RICHEY — An 18-year-old woman was arrested Monday morning on charges that she threw a hammer at her boyfriend’s head and injured him, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Betheny Diekmann was arrested at her Port Richey home on a felony charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Deputies said the incident took place at about 9:40 a.m. when Diekmann threw two claw hammers at the head of the victim, her boyfriend. One of the hammers struck the victim, which caused a visible injury, according to the arrest report. Witnesses told deputies they saw the incident.

Deputies said they found both hammers in the front yard of her home at 11210 Rhonda Ave. Diekmann later told deputies that she threw the hammer, the report said.

She was being held Tuesday at the Pasco County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
