TAMPA — Strategic Property Partners has decided how it wants to redevelop the southeast side of Channelside Bay Plaza. Later this year, a beer garden and shipping container structure housing pop-up restaurants will replace the 27,500-square-foot building that was torn down in October.
EWI Constructions has submitted permits with the city to start construction on the park.
The plans show a building made of 12 shipping containers with labels for doughnuts, tacos, ice cream and an oyster bar.
The previous structure, built in 2001, suffered from inward facing construction which blocked the view of the riverfront.
The developer is Strategic Property Partners, which is controlled by Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates’ private capital fund, Cascade Investment.
