Marriott has expanded beyond hotels by launching its own home rental business and Tampa's Mainsail Lodging and Development is one of its new partners.
Mainsail is one of six property management companies offering vacation rental homes through the new program called "Homes and Villas by Marriott International." It's essentially an upscale version of room and home renting app Airbnb.
But the properties in the new travel program are not individually owned, rather are select vacation rentals managed by companies like Mainsail and endorsed by the global leader in hospitality.
Mainsail will have rental properties on Anna Maria Island available in Marriott's new home rental program, which launched in over 100 markets within the past few weeks.
"Given Marriott's long-standing reputation in the hospitality space and their continued focus on innovating to meet the changing needs of travelers, we saw great synergy between our companies and our position within the home rental space," Mainsail CEO Joe Colier said in a statement.
Marriot's program was first piloted overseas last year. Its destinations with home rentals now span from North Lake Tahoe in California to St. Barts in the Caribbean.
Marriott says it only selected property management companies that provide "guests a professionally cleaned home with 24/7 support, high speed Wi-Fi, premium linens and amenities, and family-friendly conveniences upon request."
