Joey Knight’s takeaways from the Rays’ 4-2 win over Detroit

ST. PETERSBURG —Takeaways from the Rays' 4-2 victory over Detroit Wednesday to complete a three-game series sweep:

* Very quietly, Rays rookie Joey Wendle has hit safely in 11 consecutive games, tied for the club's second-longest streak this season behind Wilson Ramos' 18. Wendle, who doubled in the second inning Wednesday, is batting .400 during that stretch.

* With another sparkling relief effort Wednesday (three innings, one hit, four strikeouts), LHP Ryan Yarbrough recorded his eighth — EIGHTH — win of the season. That ties him with Jeremy Hellickson and Jeff Niemann for second-most in franchise history among rookie pitchers before the all-star break.

* C.J. Cron not only leads the Rays in home runs, but he's also the leader going away in timely blasts. Of his 18 homers, 12 have given the Rays the lead. That was tied with Cleveland's Francisco Lindor for most in the majors entering Wednesday. Carlos Pena (15 in 2007) has the Rays' single-season club record.
